Supporting the “There’s No Place Like Home” Gala for Family Promise of Forsyth County

In 2024, I had the honor of being asked to create a cake for the “There’s No Place Like Home” Gala, a fundraising event supporting Family Promise of Forsyth County.

Events like this are always meaningful to be part of because they bring the community together to support families in need. I was grateful for the opportunity to contribute a cake to the Gala Dessert Auction, which helps raise funds for the important work Family Promise does in our local community.

A Successful Evening for a Great Cause

The dessert auction at the gala was incredibly successful. Thanks to the generosity of the attendees and supporters, the event raised more than $49,000 to help families experiencing homelessness in Forsyth County.

It was inspiring to see how many people came together to support the organization’s mission.

Family Promise of Forsyth County, Inc. serves families who are experiencing homelessness and helps them work toward long-term stability and independence.

Through partnerships with local churches, volunteers, and community organizations, Family Promise provides:

• a safe place for families to stay
• meals and basic support
• programs designed to help families regain stability
• resources that help families move toward sustainable independence

Organizations like Family Promise play an important role in helping families navigate difficult circumstances and build a stronger future.

Creating a Cake for the Gala

Designing a cake for a charity event is always special because the cake becomes part of the fundraising experience. Dessert auctions often generate excitement during the event, and it is wonderful to know that something creative can help support an important cause.

As a cake designer, it is always rewarding to see a cake contribute to a larger purpose — especially when that purpose is helping families in our own community.

Being part of the community means more than simply baking cakes. It also means supporting local organizations and causes whenever possible.

The work Family Promise does to support families experiencing homelessness is truly impactful, and I was grateful to play a small role in helping support their mission through the gala.
