I was honored to be featured in an interview with CanvasRebel, a publication that highlights entrepreneurs, artists, and creative professionals who are passionate about their work and the stories behind their businesses.
In the interview, I had the opportunity to talk about my approach to cake design and share an example of a project that was especially meaningful — a one-of-a-kind cake created for a client’s mother’s 90th birthday celebration.
Special milestone celebrations like this are always an honor to be part of. Cakes often become a centerpiece of the event, and designing something unique for such an important occasion is incredibly rewarding.
Designing a Cake for a 90th Birthday Celebration

When creating cakes for events like this, I always try to learn more about the individual being honored. Their interests, style, favorite colors, and memories can all influence the design. The goal is to create a cake that feels personal and meaningful rather than something generic.
This approach is the same one I use when designing custom wedding cakes and sculpted celebration cakes for clients across Atlanta and North Georgia.
Each cake is designed from scratch to reflect the client’s vision and the atmosphere of the event.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
"I always try to follow up with each client within a week or two of their cake order to make sure they are happy with how everything turned out. I focus on personalized customer service and try to go above and beyond on each project, putting my all into each creation."
Building relationships with clients has always been one of the most important parts of running Artful Cakery by Julie. Many of my clients return over the years for multiple celebrations — from weddings to baby showers, birthdays, and anniversaries.
Being invited to create cakes for those moments is something I truly value.
A Personalized Approach to Cake Design
At Artful Cakery by Julie, each cake is designed individually rather than copied from a template. Some clients arrive with a clear idea for their cake, while others simply share a theme, color palette, or inspiration photos.
From there, the design evolves through conversation and creativity until it becomes a cake that feels uniquely suited to the celebration.
